Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert nursing care to laboring patients and their families
• Monitor maternal and fetal status during labor and delivery
• Assist with deliveries, cesarean sections, and emergency interventions
• Educate new parents on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and the healthcare team
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately
• Advocate for patient safety and comfort throughout the birthing process

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact state
• Current BLS certification
• NRP certification preferred
• Previous labor and delivery experience preferred
• Ability to think quickly and act decisively in high-stress situations
• Passion for maternal-child health

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of labor and delivery nursing practices
• Skill in fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR)
