Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to MedSurg and Telemetry patients, including post-op total joint patients
• Monitor, read, interpret and sign off on telemetry strips (Philips telemetry system) to keep patients safe
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, communicate changes in condition, and escalate when needed
• Administer and manage Heparin drips per unit protocols (no cardiac drips required on unit)
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and participate in shift huddles at the start of each shift
• Float confidently to nearby units (MS Tele, ICU, ER) as needed and provide consistent, high-quality care
• Support patient throughput by assisting with admissions, discharges and post-op care with a calm, professional presence

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible to work in California (license to submit required)
• BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS certification required (AHA or APEX)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (MedSurg/Telemetry experience preferred)
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Comfortable caring for post-operative total joint patients and a variety of med-surg diagnoses
• Willingness to float to ICU/ER and respond if placed on standby (30-minute response time when called)
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips and work with remote monitor techs

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• Graduated from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry strip interpretation and experience with Philips telemetry monitors
• Familiarity with MedSurg and Telemetry nursing workflows and patient ratios
• Experience with Cerner electronic health record documentation
• Comfort with CPAP/BiPAP (per RT/MD order) and basic respiratory support coordination
• Safe administration and monitoring of Heparin drips
• Strong clinical judgment, prioritization and communication skills
• Team-oriented mindset and ability to work well with CNAs, charge nurses and house supervisors
