Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed external beam and brachytherapy radiation treatments safely and accurately
• Operate and calibrate linear accelerators, CT simulator and related treatment devices
• Perform CT simulation and prepare patients following physician treatment plans
• Monitor patients closely during treatment, recognizing and responding to changes in condition
• Maintain radiation safety practices and ensure compliance with protocols and regulations
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists and nursing staff to deliver coordinated care
• Document treatments, changes and patient interactions clearly and timely in the medical record
• Participate in quality assurance, equipment checks and infection control procedures

Qualifications

• Current Hawaii State Radiation Therapist license (required)
• Current CPR certification at Healthcare Professional level (required)
• Experience as a Radiation Therapist preferred
• Comfort with patient monitoring and sedation/analgesia support as needed
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to ~25 pounds and repetitive motions

Education

• Radiation therapy principles and safety
• Operation of linear accelerators and CT simulators
• High Dose Rate (HDR) and Low Dose Rate (LDR) brachytherapy knowledge

• Total body irradiation and blood irradiator experience (where applicable)
• Patient positioning, immobilization and CT simulation techniques
• Strong patient monitoring, communication and bedside manner
• Computer proficiency for treatment documentation and equipment interfaces
