Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide continuous one-on-one observation of assigned patients to ensure a safe environment
• Engage patients in conversation or activities to reduce anxiety and prevent falls
• Promptly report any abnormal patient behavior, vital signs, or safety concerns to the nursing team
• Assist patients with meals, positioning, and bathroom needs when appropriate
• Maintain a tidy and organized patient environment
• Document observation findings accurately in the medical record

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current BLS certification (CPR) from the American Heart Association
• Previous experience as a patient sitter or in a healthcare setting preferred
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
• Compassionate, attentive, and reliable approach to patient care

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong observation and communication skills
• Ability to stay calm and de-escalate stressful situations
• Patient-centered and empathetic mindset
• Basic computer skills for documentation
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
