Patient Sitter
Location: Arlington, Virginia
Start Date: 08-15-2026
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Flexible per diem shifts, 12.5 hours per shift, as needed (schedule varies)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $19 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide continuous one-on-one observation of assigned patients to ensure a safe environment
- Engage patients in conversation or activities to reduce anxiety and prevent falls
- Promptly report any abnormal patient behavior, vital signs, or safety concerns to the nursing team
- Assist patients with meals, positioning, and bathroom needs when appropriate
- Maintain a tidy and organized patient environment
- Document observation findings accurately in the medical record
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current BLS certification (CPR) from the American Heart Association
- Previous experience as a patient sitter or in a healthcare setting preferred
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Compassionate, attentive, and reliable approach to patient care
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong observation and communication skills
- Ability to stay calm and de-escalate stressful situations
- Patient-centered and empathetic mindset
- Basic computer skills for documentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
