Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Variable days (per diem), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM day
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $16 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Monitor and accurately document vital signs, behaviors, and changes in condition
- Follow individualized care plans and communicate observations to the nursing team
- Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents
- Participate in shift handoffs and collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to enhance resident outcomes
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
- Good communication skills and the ability to work compassionately with older adults
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of ADLs and basic geriatric care
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols
- Skill in documentation and clear communication with nursing staff
- Compassion, patience, and strong observation skills
