Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
• Assist with safe transfers, mobility, and positioning to promote comfort and function
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
• Support feeding, hydration, and toileting needs with dignity and respect
• Document care activities and observations accurately and timely
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure continuity of care and positive resident outcomes

Qualifications

• GNA certification (Class: GNA) — required or equivalent state nursing assistant credential
• Previous experience in geriatric care or long-term care is highly valued
• Current basic life support (BLS) certification preferred where required
• Ability to pass facility background checks and any required health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a respectful, patient-centered approach
• Comfort with routine physical tasks such as lifting, repositioning, and assisting residents

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skill in safe resident handling, transfers, and mobility support
• Ability to take and record vital signs and observe changes in condition
• Good interpersonal skills for working with residents and families
• Basic documentation skills and familiarity with point-of-care charting
• Teamwork mindset and ability to follow care plans and nursing direction
