Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of echocardiogram studies (transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, transesophageal, exercise and pharmacological stress imaging) with accuracy and professionalism
• Conduct other cardiac diagnostic testing including EKGs, Holter prep/monitoring/analysis, and cardiac stress testing
• Operate, troubleshoot and maintain cardiac diagnostic equipment to deliver clear, reliable results for cardiologists
• Assess and accurately document studies in hospital information systems for scheduling, processing and correct billing workflows
• Implement and model infection control practices, aseptic technique, and proper equipment disinfection
• Provide age-specific, compassionate care across the lifespan including neonatal and pediatric patients
• Precept and mentor students from contracted colleges and universities, sharing clinical knowledge and best practices
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams to support high-quality patient care

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Successful completion of an echocardiography certification program or at least 2 years hands-on echocardiography experience
• Preferred: Certificate in Cardiovascular Sonography and extensive hospital-based echocardiography experience
• Preferred: Experience with neonatal and pediatric echocardiography
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Certificate Program in Cardiovascular Sonography (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, M-Mode and Color-flow Doppler
• Experience with exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiography
• EKG acquisition and interpretation basics, Holter monitoring setup and analysis
• Familiarity with cardiac stress testing protocols and equipment
• Infection control, aseptic technique and equipment disinfection practices
• Ability to perform age-specific assessments and provide compassionate care for neonatal, pediatric and adult patients
• Comfort using hospital information systems for scheduling and processing diagnostic studies
• Clinical teaching and preceptorship skills to support students and trainees
