Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical oversight for the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care
• Directly evaluate and treat patients (approximately 80% clinical time) with thoughtful, individualized plans
• Supervise and mentor COTAs and Rehabilitation Technicians, supporting their clinical growth and competence
• Oversee clinical education, competency assessments, and ongoing professional development for the team
• Develop, maintain, and enforce OT policies and procedures that reflect scope of care and best practices
• Ensure accurate documentation and discharge planning that supports patient outcomes and compliance
• Monitor and ensure regulatory compliance with state and professional standards
• Contribute to program development and administrative initiatives (approximately 20% of time)

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AOTA-approved school of Occupational Therapy (required)
• Current California occupational therapy license as issued by the State Board (required)
• Familiarity with state therapy board recommendations and rehabilitation services processes (required)
• Experience supervising COTAs and clinical staff, with strong leadership and communication skills
• Membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) preferred
• Commitment to documentation accuracy, regulatory compliance, and clinical excellence

Education

• Graduate of an accredited/ AOTA-approved Occupational Therapy program

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in patient evaluation and individualized treatment planning
• Strong clinical supervision and staff development skills
• Proven ability in documentation, discharge planning, and regulatory compliance
• Knowledge of policy and procedure development tailored to occupational therapy practice
• Experience with clinical education, competency assessment, and mentorship
• Comfort balancing clinical responsibilities with program development and administrative tasks
