Role Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team in ensuring the safe and efficient processing of medical instruments and equipment. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety by properly sterilizing and preparing medical supplies for use in patient care.
Responsibilities:

Instrument sterilization and preparation: Follow strict protocols and guidelines to clean, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment. Utilize various sterilization techniques, such as steam autoclaving, ethylene oxide, and low-temperature sterilization, to ensure effective decontamination.

Equipment maintenance and inspection: Perform routine maintenance and inspection of sterilization equipment to ensure optimal functionality. Collaborate with biomedical technicians for repairs and maintenance when needed.

Inventory management: Maintain accurate records of sterilized instruments and equipment, ensuring an adequate supply for surgical and medical procedures. Restock and organize supplies in designated storage areas for easy accessibility.

Infection control compliance: Adhere to strict infection control protocols, including personal protective equipment (PPE) usage and aseptic techniques during instrument handling and preparation. Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent cross-contamination.

Quality assurance and documentation: Conduct routine quality checks on sterilized instruments to ensure compliance with sterilization standards. Document all sterilization activities and maintain thorough records in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Collaboration and communication: Collaborate with perioperative staff, surgical teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely availability of sterilized instruments for surgical procedures. Communicate any issues or delays proactively to minimize disruptions to patient care.

Continuous learning and improvement: Stay updated on advancements in sterile processing techniques, infection control practices, and industry standards. Participate in continuing education opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Sterile Processing Technician certification (CRCST or CSPDT) preferred
- Minimum 1 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control principles
- Familiarity with various types of medical instruments and equipment
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with electronic inventory management systems
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to sterile processing
