Role Description
We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic Cardiac Catheterization Lab (CATH LAB) team. As an RN in the CATH LAB, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures, including diagnostic and interventional procedures. Responsibilities:

Pre-procedure assessment and preparation: Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including reviewing medical histories, conducting physical examinations, and assessing patients' cardiovascular status. Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization procedures, ensuring appropriate consent, education, and procedural understanding. Administer medications and intravenous therapies as necessary.

Intra-procedure assistance and monitoring: Assist the healthcare team during cardiac catheterization procedures, including preparing and maintaining sterile fields, providing instrumentation and equipment, and monitoring patients' vital signs and cardiac rhythms. Collaborate with the interventional cardiologist and other team members to ensure patient safety and procedural accuracy.

Post-procedure care and monitoring: Monitor patients closely after cardiac catheterization procedures, assessing vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and puncture sites. Administer post-procedure medications, manage potential complications, and provide appropriate interventions as required. Monitor patients' recovery and document findings accurately.

Patient education and support: Educate patients and their families about cardiac catheterization procedures, risks, benefits, and post-procedure care. Provide emotional support, answer questions, and address concerns to ensure a positive patient experience.

Documentation and charting: Maintain accurate and detailed electronic medical records, including assessments, interventions, and patient responses. Ensure timely and thorough documentation of all procedural and post-procedural activities, in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.

Collaboration and interdisciplinary care: Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary healthcare team, including interventional cardiologists, radiologists, cardiovascular technologists, and nurses, to provide coordinated and comprehensive patient care. Participate in team meetings, contribute to treatment planning, and communicate effectively to optimize patient outcomes.

Quality improvement and adherence to standards: Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the CATH LAB, including data collection and analysis, and implementation of evidence-based practices. Adhere to established standards of care, infection control protocols, and safety guidelines.
Requirements:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in IA
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Minimum 1 years of experience in a cardiac catheterization lab or interventional cardiology setting
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics
- Proficient in interpreting cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic monitoring
- Excellent critical-thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
Document Requirements
- Active NJRN license required
- AHA BLS required
- AHA ACLS required
