Shift: –  07:00-07:00 36hr/wk

Pay/Salary:  UPTO $1300 WEEKLY GROSS

High School Diploma, or equivalent, required Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current. Minimum 1 year clinical laboratory experience preferred

Role Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our team in providing high-quality blood collection services to our patients. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in the healthcare process by ensuring the safe and accurate collection of blood specimens for laboratory testing. This is an opportunity to contribute to patient care and diagnostic accuracy in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Blood specimen collection: Perform venipunctures and skin punctures to collect blood samples from patients of all ages, using proper techniques to ensure specimen integrity and patient comfort.

  2. Patient identification and labeling: Verify patient identity, accurately label collected specimens, and ensure proper documentation to maintain the integrity of the sample and ensure accurate test results.

  3. Infection control and safety: Adhere to strict infection control protocols and safety guidelines during blood collection procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent cross-contamination.

  4. Patient interaction and education: Interact with patients in a friendly and professional manner, explaining the blood collection process and addressing any questions or concerns. Provide clear instructions for post-collection care.

  5. Specimen processing and transportation: Prepare collected specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper handling, storage, and transportation. Collaborate with laboratory staff to maintain the integrity of specimens.

  6. Equipment maintenance: Maintain phlebotomy equipment, including needles, tubes, and trays, ensuring they are clean, sterile, and in good working condition. Report any malfunctioning equipment promptly.

  7. Documentation and record-keeping: Accurately record patient information, collection details, and specimen tracking data. Maintain organized records in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.

  8. Quality control and improvement: Participate in quality control activities, including proficiency testing and performance evaluations, to ensure accurate and reliable laboratory results.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Phlebotomy certification (CPT or similar) preferred
  • Minimum [X] years of experience as a Phlebotomist, with proficiency in venipuncture and skin punctures
  • Excellent knowledge of blood collection techniques and safety protocols
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic medical record systems
  • Familiarity with point-of-care testing and laboratory processes
